Abstract

?Orchids of South America, part 1?. In the first part of this paper the author describes the following new species: Sertifera grandifolia L. O. Will. and Malaxis lobulata L. O. Will. for Colombia, and Bulbophyllum amazonicum L. Q. Will. for Bolivia. In the second part he deals with some interesting paraguayan Orchidaceae, describing the new species: Oncidium schadei L. O. Will. and forming the new combination: Corymborchis decumbens (Lindley).

Louis O. Williams, Harvard University

Louis Otho Williams (o Louis Otto Williams, o Bearbeiten von Louis Otho Williams) (1908- 1991) fue un botánico y explorador estadounidense. Explorando Nicaragua recolectó e identificó unos 4000 especímenes, que se volcaron en la publicación Flora de Nicaragua, en 2008 en proceso de armado. Fue curador en el Departamento de Botánica del "Museo de Historia Natural de Chicago". Hizo intensos reconocimientos de spp. del "Ames Orchid Herbarium" de la Universidad Harvard. Allí es coeditor de American Orchid Society Bulletin.
