Biological observations on Chlorococcum infusionum?. In a short introduction, the author points out the absolute necessity of basing all studies on algae on pure cultures of the species. A short historical resumen is added. Of all the nutrient media employed, he considers that of Detmer to be superior; this medium solidified with agar permitting him to obtain pure cultures of Clorococcum infusionum. Based on these cultures, he makes a morphological study of the alga. He also employed carbon dioxide, glucose and sodium meta-vanadate, which added to the medium stimulated growth. In similar manner, he tried ammonium salts and nitrogen of organic origen, observing similar growth sitmulation only in the case of dipeptide glycil-glicine.
