C. benghalensis (Commelinaceae) is a naturally amphicarpy weed of crops . It is distributed in Asia, Africa, North and South America. In this work, a population of Commelina benghalensis of Abra Grande (Province of Salta, Argentina) is studied for the first time. It is morphologically described, and meiosis is analyzed in cleistogamous and chasmogamous flowers.
