A variant to the hydrothermic graphic or diagram of Raunkiaer

Abstract

The author, taking into account the concepts published by Dr. W. Knoche referring to the "active temperature" and "effective precipi-tation", which he calculates on the basis of Thornthwaite's formula, modified by engineer J. M. Fraga, proposes a variation for Raunkiaer's hydrothermical graphic or diagram, substituting the curves of the monthly mean temperatures (T) and monthly mean rainfall (P) observed, by those of the monthly mean "active temperature" (Ta) and monthly mean "effective precipitation" (Pe). The paper includes a map as well, where the meteorological stations are situated whose averages have been used to estimate the curves of the 44 graphics added to this publication, and which have been arranged in botanical provinces according to those consignated by Castellanos and Perez-Moreau in "The Types of Vegetation of the Argentine Republic".
