Abstract

Avila, Gonzalo; Lucía Krapovickas, Patricia Albornoz & Marta Arias. 2007. “Leaf, fruit and seed anatomy of Solanum grossum CV. Morton and Solanum riparium Pers. (Solanaceae)”. Lilloa 44 (1-2). Leaf, fruit and seed of two Solanum species are structurally analized. S. grossum is a tree about 2-4 m high that grows between 1200-2200 m snm in the forest; S. riparium is a tree about 2-15m high found in the chaco forest up to the lowest level of the montain forest. Both species present simple alternate leaves with dorsiventral structure, and epidermis with eglandular and glandular trichomes. Fruit is a globular berry, black in S. grossum and dark purple in S. riparium. They can be differentiated according to the type of glandular and eglandular trichomes, the shape of the calcicum oxalate crystals and the peculiar anatomical features of fruit and seed.
