Abstract

Mangone, Franco M.; Avila Hael, Graciela N.; Luque, Catalina A.; Debes, Mario A.; Albornoz, Patricia L.; Arias, Marta E. 2011. “Leaf anatomy of Tillandsia didisticha (Bromeliaceae) in the province of Tucumán”. Lilloa 48 (2). Tillandsia didisticha is a native epiphyte of Tucumán, with high nutritional and medicinal value. The aim of this work was to analyze its leaf anatomy. Conventional anatomical techniques were applied. The results show uniestratified epidermis with subepidermal tissue and the typical Tillandsiodeae scale. Stomata only in the abaxial epidermis surrounded by different number of subsidiary cells. Dorsiventral mesophyll, aquifer parenchyma; chlorenchyma with calcium oxalate crystals; aerenchyma; colateral vascular bundle. Starch grains in sheath. The anatomical characters described in this work are an important contribution for taxonomic research of the subfamily and future research related to the medicinal and nutritional importance of this species
