Heterochromatic C-bands in Citrus volkameriana Pasq.

Abstract

The somatic chromosomes of Citrus volkameriana Pasq. (2n = 18) were individually identified by the Giemsa C-banding technique. Constitutive heterochromatin was mainly detected in the pericentrometric and telemeric regions of eight pairs of chromosomes. Bands were not present in pair V. The karyotype of Citrus volkameriana Pasq. is regarded to be homozygous for all of chromosomes except for the pair I, in which the heterochromatin polymorphism was present.
