The reception of Gaspar Risco Fernández’s thought in Santiago del Estero and Tucumán: a contribution to the “microhistory” of ideas in northwestern argentine

This paper explores the reception and interpretation of Gaspar Risco Fernández’s ideas in Santiago del Estero and Tucumán. The research is specifically based on the characteristics of two commemorative tributes held for the author: one by the National
University of Tucumán (2005) and the other by the National University of Santiago del Estero (2017). The former emphasized the philosopher’s work in medieval thought and film studies, among other areas. The latter focused on his contributions to the culture
of Tucumán and the Northwest region (NOA). The national and Latin American scope of these ideas is also highlighted, particularly concerning their influence on regional intellectual discourse. To investigate this question, the study draws on Andrés Roig’s
methodologyc (1993) for studying philosophy and Hans Jauss’s reception theory (1976), which inform its approach. It considers the context of production of Risco Fernández’s ideas, as well as their readership, paying special attention to those who participated
in the tributes. This helps identify significant conjunctural aspects that may explain the differences in reception. This article aims to provide a starting point (or ‘basis’) for future research into the circulation and development of intellectual history in the
argentine northwest (NOA).
