Resumo

Two species have been described from the Galapagos Islands, but one of them, Dimares nummatus Navas, probably does not belong to that fauna, its typical locality possibly corresponding to Ecuador. A new species, Brachynemurus darwini, is described, maintaining the number of two known species. Both belong to the subfamily Myrmeleontinae, although to different tribes. One of them, Myrmeleon perpilosus Banks, is now known from Mexico to Peru. The other species, B. darwini, is an isolated group from the rest of the genus Brachynemurus that is restricted to the Americas.
