Cytogenetic studies in Steirastoma brevis Sulcer (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae)?. The meiotic chromosomes of Steirastoma brevis Sulcer have been investigated for the first time. The results shows that the diploid is 2n = 28 and the haploid n = 13 AA + Xyp. The sexual bivalent exhibits positive heteropycnosis during the different meiotic stages. The large chromocenter is usually associated with the heterochromatin of the autosomes during premeiotic interphase until its complete separation. The data on chiasma frequency suggest that it is low in this species.
