Agricultural intensification generates structural habitat modifications that may alter the composition and function of bird communities in agroecosystems. In this study, the bird community of an agroecological farm located in the Yungas region was characterized, and the use of
artificial perches by raptor species with potential roles in biological control was evaluated using camera trap. Species composition was surveyed through linear transects covering the entire property, recording birds observed and/or heard within cultivated plots, along edges with arboreal vegetation, and in adjacent areas, including nocturnal auditory surveys. A total of 112 species belonging to 35 families were recorded, with a predominance of insectivores, followed by granivores, and omnivores.
Additionally, monitoring of artificial perches revealed their use by 13 bird species, highlighting the American Kestrel (Falco sparverius), the Roadside Hawk (Rupornis agnirostris), and the Barn Owl (Tyto furcata)
as key and beneficial species. These results demonstrate high taxonomic and functional diversity and confirm the use of artificial perches by birds with potential regulatory effects on prey populations, providing relevant information on the ecological processes operating within agroecological
production systems in the Yungas.
