Intrapopulation variability of seroproteinic electrophoretic patterns in Bufo arenarum
Keywords:
Anura, Rhinella arenarum, Bufo arenarum, electrophoresisAbstract
The intrapopulation variation of the electrophoretic pattern of Bufo arenarum Hensel seroproteins found in the Mendoza region, allows us to recognize four main groups, based on differences of density and unfolding of the bands which are characteristic of the albumin-globulin system inherent in this species. These groups axe distributed in different proportions, which present a certain analogy to that observed by other authors in Bufo valliceps in the Unites States, and are apparently independent of sex. The limitations of intrapopulation variation must be taken into account in comparative analyses of the taxonomic meaning of the specific patterns pertaining to these proteins.
