The genus Laronia Simon, 1892 (Araneae, Drassodidae)
Keywords:
Arachnida, spiders, Laronia, morphology, taxonomyAbstract
The revision of the genus Laronia Simon, 1892, was made to point out the valid characters for its taxonomy. The nine species described have a very interesting geographic distribution: only one was found in Africa (Sierra Leona). All the others are American. As a result of the comparation of the types, the synonymy of Laronia trilineata Mello-Leitao, 1941 = Laronia variegata Simon, 1892, is established. New localities are given for L. variegata and Laronia uniformis Schiapelli-Gerschman, 1942. The allotypus of both of these species are described. The diagnosis of genus and its species are given, preceded by the thematic bibliograpy and illustrated with figures of the valid characters. A list of the species is added with the indication of the museum in which the types are kept and with their geographic distribution.
