A contribution to the zoogeography of neotropical land planarians
Keywords:
Geoplanidae, land planaria, NeotropicsAbstract
Of the three families of land planarians, only the Bipaliidae do not present endemic forms in the Neotropical Region, being represented by the cosmopolitan species Bipalium kewense. The Rhynehodemidae are represented in this region by their two subfamilies, Microplaninae and Rhynchodeminae, both of which are probably ancient in the region, although there is the possibility of some post-Pliocene inversion. The genus Dolichoplana is introduced.
