History, current state and future of zoology in the Argentine Republic

Abstract

The author elaborates an outline of a deeper study that will ever be written on the development of Sciences in the Argentine Republic. It would not be possible to expose an entirely complete panorama due to the ignorance of many unnoticed aspects and the scarce documents. Some no longer exist, others remain ignored. There is a mass of information lying in dusty files or in private hands. A long verification will be able to clarify many aspects whose results are known but not their causes. Sometimes the falsified History has put its powerful pen even in little things like the development of Science. If History is made up of documents, manuscripts, epistles, and a string of original or interpreted opinions, in order to know the development of Zoology and of any Science, it would be essential for us to manage the mass of published and unpublished information that awaits its analysis to be incorporated. as elements of a scientific historiography. We have not made catalogs of surnames, but the names are mentioned when it has been believed necessary, preferring to refer to facts, specific institutions and events.
