Ornithological Notes VIII - Observations on the reproduction of the Seagull Larus marinus dominicanus Lichtenstein, 1823

Abstract

The author studies the nesting habits of the gull Larus marinus dominicanus. He gives a table to show the variation in nesting dates for various years between 1946 and 1958, number of eggs laid, dates of hatching, total time of incubation etc. A second table indicates the egg size as mentioned by other authors. He also gives the measurements of a two and a half month old chick, adding descriptions of the nests, young and other data of interest. A bibliography concludes the paper.
