Notes on genus Lacon Cast. 1836 (Col. Elateridae)

Abstract

Based on the work of Arnett, (1952, 1953) in which the genus Lacon Cast. is divided into different subgenera, and starting from the species complex, which is summarized in Col. Catalogus pars 80 under the name Adelocera (= Lacon Cast. 1836), a key is given, with the help of which this conglomerate can be divided into genera and subgenera.

It was necessary to establish new nomenclature units for some species from Central and South America: Arnettia nov. gen., and Monocyrton, Cornilacon and Latilacon new subgenera from Lacon. In addition, the exact position of the South American species is shown given in these new units. The only thing missing then is the exact classification of the species of the ancient world. Only the work that is absolutely necessary is listed in the bibliography.
