Until recently the information of several genera of Odontostomidae generally insuf ficient, restricted to brief descriptions and, in several cases, based on old material. In he context of the ongoing revision of the genus Spixia, a new species is described. The purpose of this study is providing complete information of shell morphology and internal anatomy, as well as, the distributional information in Córdoba province.
For diagnosis S. josei was compared with material of 35 Argentinean species. It was differentiated principally by its size, shape and the sculpture of the penis inner wall. The presence of S. josei besides other gastropod species in locations not mentioned until present, would point to the importance of conserving areas that are constantly being disturbed by agriculture and urbanization.
