Abstract

Notes on Neotropical Felidae, VII. Current record of Leo onca palustris (Ameghino) in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (Mammalia, Felidae)?

The actual southern range of ?yaguar?, Leo onca palustris, on Brazilian territory is stated, indicating two captures of the species in Rio Grande do Sul. The authors mention the need of preservation of the natural habitat of the species in order to protect these large neotropical cats from human action.
