Rhipicephalus sanguineus, dog tick, is a hematophagous ectoparasite of the Ixodidae family, which primarily parasitizes dogs and to a lesser extent other domestic and wild animals and humans. During the spring and summer of 2021, a puma (Puma concolor), three foxes (Lycalopex gymnocercus) and a weasel (Didelphis albiventris) arrived at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center from different urban areas of the province of San Juan, Argentina. An external examination was carried out at the time of entry of these species to the Conservation Center, detecting and collecting ticks identified as R. sanguineus. The present study provides novel information for Argentina on the interaction of R. sanguineus with these species of wild mammals, being recorded for the first time in puma and fox, and the second record in weasel for Argentina. Parasitism of this tick in these hosts is not common, being quite unusual, mainly associated with highly infected environments.
