The Central and South American species of the third division of the genus Chalcolepidius Eschsch. (Col., Elateridae.)

The species of the genus Chalcolepidius Eschsch. studied whose third antennae is smaller than the fourth. The new subsp. C. Herbsti ssp. multistriatus n. ssp. and the male of C. viriditarsus Schw. are described. A key to identify the Central and South American species is given, as is an analysis of some morphological characters and the geographical distribution of some species. C. chalcantheus Cand. is reported as new for Argentina.
