The species of the groups 3 and 4 of Cardiorhinus Eschscholtz (Col. Elateridae)

Abstract

Two new species belonging to group three of the genus Cardiorhinus are described: hayekae and maculatus, both from Venezuela, and ten new species belonging to group four: chilensis from Chile, coralinus from Brasil, costae from Brasil and Argentina, elegans from Brasil, luisae from Paraguay, parabicolor from Brasil, parapullatus from Paraguay and Brasil, porteri from Argentina, unicolor from Chile, and ypirangus from Brasil. Descriptive notes of the known species and keys are also given. The species seen by the author are illustrated and the importance of the length of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th articles of the antennae is pointed out as a help for identification.
