Abstract

?Geology of the Northeast hills of the Tucumán Province (Argentina)?. This paper deals with the regional and stratigraphicc characteristics of on area embracing 4000 km2, between the Provinces of Tucumán and Salta. There are just part of the results achieved during the survey of the Paper 10 f Trancas, carried out in 1979 by means of an agreement between the Secretary of Mines and the Fundación Miguel Lillo. The area comprises a highland made by La Candelaria, Medina, del Nogalito, del Campo and La Ramada hills, which are made up by the Formación Puncoviscana a low grade metamorphic complex with some intrusive, covered by sediments of ordovic, cretaceous and tertiary ages. Quaternary deposits are aluvional, forming four terrace levels.
