Historical analysis of the geological knowledge of La Rioja, Argentina?. The current geological knowledge of the territory of the province of La Rioja, Argentina, is the result of more than a century of continuous studies that have covered different aspects of regional stratigraphy, mining, hydrogeology and sciences related to geology. Perhaps it can be said that the beginning of the investigations had their beginning in the questions posed by the Famatina hill. Its mining potential has served as an incentive for the work that has made it possible to demonstrate the composition of its rocks and mineral veins. They constitute the base of all the geological information that will later be elaborated.
