Abstract

A study of the flavonoids in leaves of B. tweediei and B. gigantea allowed us to conclude that both taxa are chemotaxonomically identical. The identified flavonoids are: quercetin, kaempferol, kaempferol-3-glucoside, hyperin and quercetin-3-glucoside. Therefore, the denomination, based on exomorphological characters, under the priority specific epithet Blepharocalyx salicifolius, proposed by Landrum (1986) should be confirmed.
