Abstract

In this paper the author describes and illustrates four species of Asclepiadaceae new to the Argentina flora.

One, Gyrostelma bormiilleri Schlecht. ex Malme is from the Province of Corrientes whilst the other three, Mitostigma grandiflorum Schlecht. Mitostigma boliviense Schlecht. and Ditassa racemosa Britton have been found in the extreme north of the country in the neighbourhood of Los Toldos which was incorporated in Argentine territory in the year 1938, having previously formed part of Bolivia. This area constitutes the southern limit of various species (See Bol. Soc. argent. Bot. VII. 7: 12-16, 1957).

A key is included for the determination of all the Argentine species of the genus Schistogyne. In addition a new combination, Morrenia variegata (Gris.) Meyer is proposed, based on Oxypetalum variegatum Gris.; this species has been frequently refered to in Argentine botanical publications as Morrenia connectens Malme.
