María Elisa Luque y Ana L. Martiínez de Fabricius. 2003. Fitoplankton temporal distribution in Piedra Blanca River (Córdoba, Argentina). Lilloa 42 (1-2). The aim of this investigation was to analyze the seasonal variation in the composition and abundance of the planktonic communities of the River Piedra Blanca and the influence of the environmental factors about the biological during an anual cycle. Monthly samples were collected from June 1988 to June 1989, at selected site of the river Piedra Blanca. In the phytoplanktonic communities, 220 taxa were identified, 10 Cyanophyceae, 36 Chlorophyceae, 171 Bacillariophyceae, 1 Euglenophyceae and 2 Dinophyceae. The density of the fitoplankton oscillated between 2 org.ml-1 (June 1988) and 425 org.ml-1 (june 1989). Bacillariophyceae contribution a 93% to the phytoplanktonic density, whereas Cocconeis placentula var. lineata, Cocconeis placentula var. euglypta, Melosira varians and Synedra ulna were the gratest contribution to phytoplanktonic density. Chlorophyceae predominated during summer. The pH, conductivity and dissolved solids explain the variations of the number of species and density of the organisms.
