Agalinis is an American genus and their few cytogenetic backgrounds agree that North American species exhibit basic chromosome numbers x = 13, 14 and the species of South America x = 16. In this work, meiosis and the pollen viability are analyzed in A. fiebrigii and A. genistifolia are estimated, the two unique taxa who grow in the Northwest of Argentina. The gametophytic number n = 16 present in both species is consistent with the previous report and agreed whit the basic number proposed for South American taxa. During meiosis numerous irregularities are observed in ones specie and extra-nuclears bodies are reported for the first time in Agalinis.
