First report of Pleurozium quitense (Hylocomiaceae) in Argentina

Pleurozium quitense (Hylocomiaceae), a species endemic to the Tropical Andes, is reported for the first time in Argentina. In the present work, the species is described and illustrated. Some data on its distribution and ecology are provided. The species is compared with P. schreberi, the related species recorded in the south of the country.
