In this work the range of distribution of the Physcomitrium genus in the Northwest of Argentina is updated. The treatment includes the taxonomic review of three species reported for the area: P. lorentzii, P. subsphaericum and P. thieleanum. They are characterized by symetrical and erect capsules, cupulate to urceolate and gymnostomous, inmersed or exerted and mitrate calyptra. Two artificial taxonomic keys are presented, one for the recognition of the genera of Funariaceae present in the neotropic and Argentina and another of the species treated here, their descriptions and illustrations are added and a distribution map of the species represented in the country.
