On the importance of the cariology of the Caryophyllaceae

Based on the C/KL ratio, which indicates how many nuclear units of space are capable of doubling the existing hereditary mass during the two divisions of maturity, the author establishes 11 groups of species in the genus Dianthus, a concept that has been reinforced by posterior anatomical data.
