Abstract

Puya assurgens L. B. Smith, nov. sp., is described from cultivated material which was probably collected in Jujuy (Argentina) originally. Tillandsia aëranthos (Loisel.) L. B. Smith, nov. comb., replaces the well known but later T. dianthoidea Rossi. The author corrects his previous treatment of Tillandsia friesii Mez emend. Castellanos and now considers its violet petals the one certain character distinguishing it from T. xiphioides.
