Abstract

The Flacourtiaceae are represented in Argentina by 8 genera: Abatia, Aphaerema, Lacistema and Prockia, with one species; Azara and Banara with 3 species; Casearia and Xylosma with 4 species; in total 18 species, all arborescent. The author gives keys to the genera and species, descriptions and a list of the samples examined.

Author Biography

Hermann Otto Sleumer, Universidad Nacional de Tucumán

Hermann Otto Sleumer (1906-1993) ​fue un botánico neerlandés de origen alemán.

De 1944 a 1949 trabaja en la Universidad de Berlín; y luego se muda a Argentina, en Tucumán, siendo profesor de Botánica en el Instituto Miguel Lillo de la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán, con su colega Kurt Hueck. Está allí hasta 1953 que regresa a los Países Bajos, trabajando en la Universidad de Leiden. Y de 1956 a 1971 es curador de su herbario.

De 1976 a 1977, está en EE. UU. siendo curador del Jardín Botánico Amazónico de Nueva York.
