The author tells the story of the genus Hickenia Lillo (Asclepiadaceae), which takes precedence over Hickenia Brit. and Rose (Cactaceae); he publishes two descriptions of Malme, one generic and the other specific, and accompanies the article with a plate containing annalytical drawings of the plant.
