Scientific illustration is highly important for various disciplines, particularly biology, as it helps to convey information obtained from organisms in an accurate, objective, uniform, and easy-to-understand manner. Using the Lankester technique, eight complete dissection plates of the following species were created for a Plant Anatomy and Physiology class at the National Autonomous University of Honduras: Dianthus deltoides, Trimezia sincorona,
Torenia fournieri, Tibouchina urvilleana, Dahlia pinnata, Petunia × hybrida, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, and Pelargonium × hybridum. A survey conducted among 29 students revealed that 93.1% considered that the composite dissection plates created using the Lankester technique facilitated the identification of the internal and external structures of the model plants.
