9th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FLUVIAL SEDIMENTOLOGY

The International Conference on Fluvial Sedimentology (ICFS) has been held each 4 years from 1977. The last venue was in Delft (The Netherlands) in August, 2005. During the plenary assembly Argentina was elected as next venue for this event.
This occasion will be the first time that an ICFS would be held on South America. In the same way, it is an excellent opportunity to meet fluvial sedimentologists to discuss and interchange experiences, visit extensive outcrops along and across to Argentina, look modern and ancient examples from the Precambrian until Today or more exactly until the next August, 2009.
The ICFS is open to all scientists and professionals with affinity for the field of fluvial sedimentology.
We hope to receive an important participation to this ICFS. The assistants to the three previous ICFS were between 250 and 350 people and our expectation is to reach this participation from “fluvial sedimentologists”, related Scientifics, colleagues from government departments and companies, and consultants around the world.
Fluvial sedimentology topics
The subjects of fluvial sedimentology are wide-ranging; they can include the single grain sand movement in a flume experiment to the real floods or science and technology or else mathematical models and computer simulation. The ancient fluvial deposits are also studied due to their economic importance like aquifers, metallic mining and hydrocarbon reservoirs. The studies of modern fluvial deposits and rivers involve from water supply and control of flooding to tourist centers and bridge buildings.
