Una nueva especie de Platyliodes Berlese (Acari: Oribatida: Neoliodidae) asociada a microhábitats corticícolas y epífitos en el centro de México

Platyliodes es un género de ácaros de distribución holártica perteneciente a la familia Neoliodidae, actualmente representado por siete especies vivientes y dos fósiles. En el Hemisferio Occidental solo se ha reportado una especie para Estados Unidos, aunque el género también ha sido registrado en México, Colombia y Ecuador. En el presente trabajo se describe Platyliodes pablomartinezi sp. nov., una especie descubierta mediante el muestreo de corteza y epífitas en bosques del centro de México. La nueva especie se distingue por una combinación de caracteres morfológicos del prodorso, notogáster, placas genitales y patas. Con el fin de facilitar su identificación y diferenciación respecto a sus congéneres, se proporciona una clave dicotómica bilingüe (español e inglés). Asimismo, se presenta una revisión de la distribución geográfica y las preferencias de microhábitat conocidas para todas las especies vivientes del género.
