Abstract

?Stratigraphy of the Laguna del Salitre area, Belén department, Catamarca province (Argentina)?. In denominated Puna Austral is localizated the area of Laguna del Salitre, at 60 km E-SE to Antofagasta de La Sierra, north to Laguna Blanca fields. Geology of this zone is assigned to the geological province of Puna, where their more ancient rocks of basament outcroping are Ordovicic. In the Tertiary age important volcanic events were developed. Consequently, effusive and piroclastic rocks had covered large surfaces. Structure of the area is constituted by block mountains related to Cenozoic processes. Piroclastic sequences to the principal elevations are interpreted as an age of 4,8 to 2,1 m.a.
