Las aves acuáticas como indicadoras de problemas ambientales en el embalse La Angostura, Tucumán, Argentina

Resumen:

El Embalse La Angostura, Tucumán, ha sufrido numerosas modificaciones en los últimos años, que han modificado la comunidad de aves presentes en el mismo. Las aves responden ante cambios que se producen en un ecosistema, por lo que se consideran buenas bioindicadoras. En este estudio, se describe la riqueza y abundancia de aves en rela- ción a los cambios antrópicos que se dieron en el Embalse desde el año 2000, a lo largo de 13 años. Se realizaron censos de transectas de faja en las diferentes estaciones del año. Tanto la riqueza de especies como la abundancia de las aves, mostraron variaciones a lo largo de los años. La vegetación acuática del Embalse y la que rodea al mismo, fue el prin- cipal recurso (alimentación, nidificación y refugio) para muchas de las especies residentes y migratorias, las que se vieron afectadas por los impactos antrópicos en el Embalse.

Abstract:

Waterbirds as indicators of environmental problems in the Angostura Dam, Tucumán, Argentina’. The Angostura Dam, Tucumán, has undergone many changes in recent years that have changed its bird community. Birds respond to changes in an ecosystem, whi- ch makes them good bioindicators. In this study, the richness and abundance of birds in re- lation to anthropogenic changes that took place at the dam since 2000 and for the following 13 years are described. Transect censuses were conducted in different seasons. Both spe- cies richness and abundance of birds showed variations over the years. The aquatic vegeta- tion and surroundings of the dam were the main source for food, nesting and shelter for many resident and migratory species, which were affected by human impacts on the dam.
